In short, they’re totally and utterly perfect.
1. Japan released bombs that didn’t pack a punch.
Purposely trying to reduce the potential impact of death, the Asian country alternatively aimed to create destruction around America’s west coast. It actually worked. The first of many genius military tactics set off a string of forest fires the country was forced to focus on instead of the war.
2. Persia used Egypt’s love against them.
Recognizing their opponent’s sacredness for felines, Persian ruler Cambyses ordered a new paint job for the army’s shields. While ‘cat soldiers’ marched towards them, the Egyptians willingly laid down their weapons. After all, they weren’t about to battle the supernatural guardians of the underworld!
3. WWI military vessels tricked with an optical illusion.
The U.S. Navy smartly painted a rather unique zig-zag pattern on the outside of their naval ships. The design was meant to confuse potential enemies wandering the waters, throwing off their sights as well as confusing their judge of distance. As you can imagine, the tactic worked quite well.
